Qualifications:
- 6+ years of product research industry experience conducting user research and driving tangible outcomes with product teams and a measurable track record of success and impact
- Experience in articulating the implications of research finding in clear and compelling ways; translating research findings into actionable recommendations; ability to translate data into insights; measurable record of impacting products as a researcher
- MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field, OR a BS/BA in one of the above fields with significant industry experience
- Demonstrated experience designing and conducting a range of formative and iterative research methods applicable to all product stages from conception to release (Enterprise experience a plus)
- Thorough knowledge and experience across a range of UX research approaches and methodologies. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
- Demonstrated success working with cross-discipline leadership to shape product is desirable
- Develop and maintain research plans and drive data into decisions across the product lifecycle
- Strong writing and verbal abilities
- Experience managing design research knowledge that is leveraged across design and engineering teams
- Track record of collaborating across disciplines (design, program management, engineering, content writers, and marketing) to drive change into products; must be able to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team
- Demonstrated ability to work within tight timelines and with excellent project management skills
Responsibilities:
- Creates and drives plans for research studies and/or programs for a product, product line, or services. Defines and scopes problems for an end-to-end research plan with clear success criteria relevant for business needs for a product, product line, or service. Leverages experimental design and its applications (e.g., within and between repeated measures design). Proactively identifies research needs and potential problem areas that need to be researched.
- Plans research to include diversity, inclusion and accessibility principles.
- Applies research methods for effective execution for a product, product line, or service. Guides multi-person research efforts resulting in strong product outcomes for a product, product line, or service.
- Synthesize and distill data for a product, product line, or service. Reviews and analyzes data to draw conclusions for a product, product line, or service. Applies statistical analyses to strengthen hypotheses to make business decisions for a product, product line, or service. Enables problem identification and reduces data to form aggregate insights for a product, product line, or service.
- Shares insights in a way that is easy to understand to activate design and engineering processes from insights for a product, product line, or service. Creates and leverages communication methods that promote an emotional connection to a customer and conveys real user stories that reveal customer insights.
- Manifests insights into product truth, impact, and decisions for Group Product Managers and General Managers.
- Conducts research that identifies and clarifies who the customer is and the critical parts of their context to inform product strategy and user experience direction for a product, product line, or service. Delivers customers insights into a target customer profile or description.
Contributes to the formation of the solution for a product, product line, or service. Leads generative research to determine what solutions or concepts should be used.
- Addresses business needs while making a business case for the research to Group Product Manager or General Manager. Works backward in research and development, focusing more heavily on the problem to lead to a solution rather than creating something highly original but lacking in application potential.
- Applies heuristic evaluations and product walkthroughs. Applies a combination of moderated and unmoderated user experience testing methodologies to distill continuous improvement insights and to trigger product or experience direction pivots.
- Improves user experience through continuous iterative research processes for a product, product line, or service. Conducts iterative research with cross-disciplinary product teams in a lean, continuous, collaborative, and co-experienced manner. Produces research-driven insights on industry/vertical trends. Determines the risk associated with technology uncertainty for future initiatives by conducting new and/or foraging for existing research for a product, product line, or service.
